Price Check - Real M16 308 Mags

I might be getting my hands on some pre-94 USGI M16 mags (from Desert Storm). For M16A1, is that correct? Do these mags fit AR-10's?

M-16/AR-15 mags should fit all variations of those weapons - M-16/A1/A2.

The AR-10 shoots a .308 caliber round, the M16 a .223 caliber - you can't use one in the other.

That's what I tried to tell the man. He insisted he used an M16A1, and it was 308 caliber.

I asked him if he was sure, and even showed him a 308 bullet and 223 bullet, along with some AR-15 mags. He still insisted it was 308 that he used.

I was never in the military, and never handled an M16, so I stopped arguing about it.

Funny thing. This argument reminded me of the same argument I had when I was a kid with a friend of mine. That kid claimed that his father carried a 308cal M16 in Vietnam. I argued that it was 223, but he wouldn't budge.
None of the men in my family ever went to Vietnam, so I had to drop the argument at that time for, basically, the same reason.

I guess the memory the caliber of the gun you carried is like the memory of how many girls you slept with - the remembered number is always a little higher than the actual... ;)

Glad to see I'm not as mis-informed as I thought I was.

Except that over your lifetime, you will have more guns than women.

Ytrash, if the mags are 30 round and USGI then they can only be M16s. If they're 20 rds. they could be either. But maybe this bloke is mixing up M16s with M14 .308
Either way, he's FOS. heh.
