Price check, please... Browning Hi Power

Circa 1994 production, blued, wood panel grips, 2 13-round magazines, original box and all paperwork.

It's probably had fewer than 100 rounds fired through it.

I've got no clue when it comes to prices on semi-autos.

BHP

I bought one like that for $395 a few years ago, but the supply of new ones has dropped and the prices have gone up some. I would say anything between $400 and $500 would be a good deal. If you want it bad enough go a little higher. New ones seem to be going in the $550 to $650 range when they can be found. I did see one new MKIII on the internet for $500.

Thanks, I'm getting feedback from some other people, as well, that the offer made to me is a VERY good deal.

I'm struggling with the financial aspects of it right now, but I'm thinking seriously that I might have to take this.

What's the offer you got? You can't go wrong with a nice Hi Power. If you don't take it I have a friend that is looking. Ken

Assuming no undue wear and scratches, its a deal. Depending I'd expect to see a good HiPower at about $450-$500.
You are probably more experienced than I am, but I would see if the owner will let you take it to the range first. At that price (s)he is either desperate, ignorant of the value, a fool, or unloading a lemon.

Buy, buy, buy...

The mags are worth $100-$120.

A new matte MKIII at Green Top, w/ 10-rd. mag., was $599 last year. $579 at Degoff's in Mechanicsville.

Buy, buy, buy.

If you buy it and then find that you need to sell it, I'll drive up there and give you cash :) Mine needs a partner.

BHP mags

You can still get high quality hi cap Hi Power mags for about $40 brand new. If you want hi cap range mags for practice only you can still get those for $15.

$300? I have the exact same gun, same apparent condition, same year of manufacture, two hi-caps, with hard case and instruction book. Paid $449 (USED!) for it a year ago and considered myself lucky. You're doing much, much better.

The guy isn't desperate, he just doesn't want to deal with the handguns. He's keeping his long guns. He's my next door neighbor, friend, and just doesn't want to deal with moving to Maryland with the handguns.

I'm assuming it's Belgian made, but I don't know for certain, I didn't think to look.

Yeah, I think I have to take this gun.

Mike, If you don't want it, buy it anyway, I'll buy it from you and see that you make a profit, my single BHP needs a playmate.

I think from 1994 on the Hi Powers are assembled in Portugal. My '94 Hi Power is. Tell you the truth, it feels and sounds as solid as my '80 Belgian Hi Power. It groups as well as any Belgian Hi Power I've handled too, maybe it was luck.
As for pre-ban magazines I see new factory magazines go for $80, with Mec Gar mags @ $40.

Sorry for taking the cynical interpretation of the price. A steal, as has been said.
Enjoy, the recoil feels even lighter than my Beretta 92 to me.

Well, if I get the Hi Power, I'm pretty certain the Beretta is going to go.

I may just sell it here -- a 92, 1970s vintage, Italian made, no decocker, safety on the frame, 4 or 5 high-cap magazines.

Do I have any offers? :)

Hey I'll give you $300 for the 92, then it's a break even proposition for ya! ;) If that BHP is the real deal, and the mags are factory mags, that a heck of a deal. Buy it. Glad I could help.

A local gunshop here has the exact same Hi Power in their case. They want over $600 for it . It has sat for a long time in the display case:D

At that price grab it! I paid $300 for one of those Israeli surplus guns and it was in rough shape. Hi Powers are worth it. especially if it has Hi Caps with it

Here is some good info Re hi Power mags:

AFTER you buy it you may want to let him know that he's better off bringing his own rather than trying to restock in MD!
