Price check on Walther PPK/s, old, mint

I have an old Walther PPK/s that I am considering selling, but I want to know how much to ask for it. It is old, made in Germany in the late 60's or early 70's I believe, test fired only, comes in original box with all accesories (extra mag, cleaning rod) and factory test target, manual etc. I have never fired it. It looks brand new in every way. It is really beautiful, it has a look to it that I don't see on new ones: A deeper blue and higher polish on surfaces. It doesn't look to me like they make production guns like this quality any more.
So anyway, can someone give me a ballpark price I should ask for this gun?

Thanks!

JT,
A Walther just as you've described sold (retail) near me for $699 a few weeks ago.
Those looking for a shooter probably would not be interested at that price, but the serious Walther guys might, if it's truly 30 years old and still new-in-box. They sure are beautiful, sexy guns. Hope this helps.

Thanks. I am sure it is older than I am, but I am not sure the exact year it was made. Anyone know how to find out when it was made?

Thanks,

JD,

If there's no date or date code (i.e. 69 or IE) anywhere on the gun. Then let me know the serial number and I can tell you when it was made. You can send me a private message if you don't want the serial number broadcasted out.

The date should be on the frame or barrel of the gun, usually next to the Ulm proof house "antlers".

Thaddeus,

I got your message. I've returned an answer to you.

You may or may not be able to get the stated value out of it. It sounds like a great gun. It just depends on if the right buyer comes along. Where your in California, you may get that price for it. Here in Idaho, I recently saw one in similar condition and they were only asking $400. Difference in economy maybe.

Hope my answers helped. If you want another opinion you can visit Walther Germany's web site at www.carlwalther.de They have a Forum there and a guy by the name of Dieter H. Marschall. He is a sort of historian on Walther's. I get a lot of info about Walther's from him. One of his books gave me the info on your PPK/S.
