price check on S&W 610 6.5" 1989

There is one of the above described gun in a local shop for $400. I haven't had the chance to really inspect its condition yet, but what do you guys think? What I was really looking for was a 4" 686 but I might not be able to pass this one up. 610's seem to be very rare around here, this is the only one I've ever seen.

Well, I bought MY 6.5 inch 610--from the original run--two years ago, for $410, IIRC...if it's in any kind of condition AT ALL, I'd say "Go for it!!!"...IF you choose not to, let ME know where it is!!!....mikey357

This is one of my favorite revolvers. I think S&W should introduce one with a 4" barrel.

The current production 610 is available in 4", though only with that ugly unfluted cylinder I actually handled one after they told me the 6.5" 1989 was gone. It had good balance, and plenty of weight to soak up the recoil. I bet, loaded with .40's, it'd be the ultimate IDPA wheelgun.

There's a super-rare 5" 1989 610 on GunsAmerica right now, but I can't justify the $650

There's a 5" 610 up the road a piece at a reasonable price, as long as you don't count the fact that it'll need a new cylinder ass'y thanks to some boneheaded home gunsmith's dremel-tool-and-Budweiser-powered attempt at chamfering the chamber throats...
