I'm looking for a 9mm carry revolver as backup to my Beretta 92. What should I expect to pay? I seen a NIB security six for $815 on gunbroker. That price seems high, but it's tempting, because I can't find one in NIB condition anywhere else and I've done business with the seller before.

If you absolutely cannot live without it I guess it's a great buy. Otherwise that is a whole bunch of money for any Security Six variation. I like these guns but not that much.

9mm revolvers

Psychosword--

Many shooters are looking for a 9mm moonclip revolvers for use in IDPA. The short 9mm cases and the moon clips should make for very fast speedloading.

You needs are different---back up gun that uses the same rounds as your primary-- but you are competing for the revolver that everybody wants and therefore must suffer the high prices. Ruger also makes/made the SP101 in 9mm. That may be a better sized back up gun although limited to five rounds. $815 plus FFL fees seems WAY too much, but--- let the buyer beware!

I gave up searching for a 9mm revolver for IDPA and had a S&W 686 prepared for me by a competent "smith" for competition. I shoot .38s with regular speedloaders and with practice have become quite fast.

Prior to preparing the S&W a few months ago, I called each major manufacturer and specifically asked if they were planning to introduce a six shot 9mm moonclip gun and they all said NO!

Psychosword:

Went thru this a while back myself. The 2.75" ones aren't so rare, but if it's a 4" you better jump, most of those apparently went overseas to fill a contract, not much of an overrun stayed here. (Hope they get re-imported someday!) You might find the short barrel one cheaper if you really beat the bushes, and BTW they made em in blue also. Hope I've helped, and no, I'm not even gonna go over to gunbroker and look, maybe that's why they call it gunBROKEr!:D
