Price Check on GP100

I am looking to pick up a used GP100 SS .357 with a 4" heavy Barrel. What is a good price on this fine revolver. This is my first wheel gun so I don't want to spend too much in case I don't like it. Thanks in advance

I would say about $200 to $250 average depending on condition and location.I just got one brand new never fired in the box was made in 1987 for $240 :D
 
New, it runs between $400 and $450. Used, I wouldn't pay more than $350 and that's if it's in perfect condition. Many are priced in the $250-$325 range.

I've never seen a $200 GP100 at a shop. Seen plenty online, but that's before you pay shipping and transfer fees, which add at least $35 to the price of the gun.

The nice thing about a GP100 is that they're so durable, a well used model is usually as good as a new one mechanically.

The best I have seen online was $260. Seller claims it is 95% condtion. Finish is Stainless Steel. Transfer & shipping costs me $27 but no tax. $287 OTD. Any thoughts?

$200 seems very cheap. I have seen exactly 1 GP100 for that price, and the circumstances were unusual. The shop ordered a batch of the DAO RCMP issue GP100s and sold them for $250. One person later returned with his and did a trade using it. The gun store owner put it back in the case and because he knows me, he let me buy it for $200 out the door.

Other than the LEO trade-in guns that have recently hit the market, prices seem to run in the $300+ range for a GP100 in good condition. I paid $350, out the door, for one in nearly new condition awhile back and considered that to be a good deal.
 
$287 all said and done isn't bad at all assuming the seller is being truthful. I paid $350 for my NIB GP100 6 years ago.

I wasn't going to put that $200 in but I forgot to change it.Is on the low side but most I have seen are going for $250.
 
I got my 6 inch SS GP100 new about 10 years ago. I think I paid about $300 at a gun show for it. The GP100 is a great gun and scary accurate. The first cylinder I shot out of it made a clover shaped hole about 3/4 of an inch wide. The extra weight of the 6 inch barrel makes the recoil more managable. The single action trigger is great and the double action pull isn't too bad. It is a bit heavy for my taste but I guess that makes it safer. Enjoy yours when you get it.
 
I bought a new one in the last month or so for $350. Felt it was a pretty good price. Someone told me that this is within about $15 of dealer cost, but I have no idea. I used to check stuff like that, but frankly I rather spend my time doing other stuff rather than worrying about $15.

$350 for a new GP100 is suspiciously low.

When I bought my first GP100 around 15 years ago, I searched high and low for the best bargain. I ended up buying it from Wal-Mart for $394. I've never seen a new one for less.
 
JohnKsa: Mine is a 3" Blue. I like the 3" blue revolvers. It was $350 at a gun show from a local dealer who had tables.

Back to the topic of this thread, why buy a used one when you can get one for this price?
 
I bought two "used" GP100s from a small gun shop. They were on consignment. A 6" AND a 4" for $650. the pair. Both stainless. A security guard business bought em new but folded a few months later. Never took them outta the safe. The 6" one is the most accurate handgun I have ever, ever had.
The 4" I never got to shoot. My wife borrowed it to go Shootin' with some girlfriends one weekend. She came back with and gave me $300.00 and said she's keeping this one. I guess she liked it. :rolleyes:
 
Pick one up the other day used but looked like NIB

Paid 325, I was ok with the price. I just cant wait to get it to a gun smith I know and clean up the trigger. Strange the single action is nasty creapy, yet the double action is not that bad, never seen a gun like that.
Well built but the trigger in single action feels like two peices of sand paper sliding togther.
 
I really like to see women shooting. It is a great sport. I wish more women should shoot as most revolvers are pretty manageable in 357 or less. I usually shoot 38+P's in mine just because I prefer less recoil and the beefer frame of the GP100 makes me feel safer.
 
I paid $400 in Flora Vista NM last year for 6 inch heavy barrel. I went to a Durango gun show and asked a man that had one at his table what he wanted for his GP100. He said $400, but I couldn't buy since I am from NM, ;) so I left.
I later met a man selling exactly that same brand and style of gun in Flora Vista NM for exactly that same price. :)

It's been eight months since I bought it and I'm still trying to get used to how it shoots.
I'm so used to shooting my Dan Wessons in 357 with the long heavy barrels. The triggers on my DW are glass smooth :D

I got my stainless 4" heavy barrel model NIB about 5-6 years ago at a NoVa gunshow for $350. Every once in a while, I'll see another NIB one for that price. They're rare, but out there.

I acquired a 4" GP100 within the last month and the first thing I did was change to a Hogue grip.

I was impressed with my first range experience! I was shooting consistently 3 inches high from 30 feet and decided to make adjustments to my rear sight. From then on, I was couldn't believe my groups! I was putting bullets in the same hole - I can't even do that with my Sig 220ST, HK P2000 or Glock G21 on a consistent basis! It is extremely accurate - very impressive...

This is my first revolver and am very satisfied. I just bought 500 rounds of .38 special and 500 rounds of .357 mags at the local gunshow yesterday and can't wait to go back to the range!
