You can get a DSA built rifle, using a Styer(Austrian) kit that is in excellent condition. You get to choose either a Type I or II rcvr. There webpage says 995.00 but the dealer price is 795.00 so find an FFL guy who will only charge you for the transfer and you get a high quality rifle with a lifetime warranty for a great price. I have one and am extremely happy with it.

Then there are the Enterprise rifles, cost more and I can't speak to their quality.
There is the IAI M-444, built on a Imbel rcvr but they cheaped out and you must use a mag with a US floorplate to be in compliance with 922r. They go for 750.00. Have heard both reviews on these guns, mostly good but some problems.

You can get pre-built guns that are excellent from either Arizona Response Systems or Arizona Expert Arms LLC
but you will pay more than 800, more like 1200+. Again, these are fine tuned FAL's and from what I've read, everyone who has gotten one is happy
Then there are the Century and various other Franken FAL's(mix of Metric rcvr and Inch kits) out there. I personally would stay away from those, but I'm sure there are some good ones there too. These are in the 450-550 range.
You could go to the auction sites. I have picked up some nice weapons off the boards, you just have to be patient and keep checking.

I'll be honest. I'm biased, I like the DSA guns. I have a pre-ban Springfield Armory SAR48(all Imbel rifle) and a DSA Styer Kit gun w/Type II rcvr and I love it. It is well made and shoots like a dream. I just finished putting a set of Black Walnut stocks on it and she's a beaut......
Take your time, do your home work and you will have a great FAL. I have grown to love these rifles...
