Price check: Kahr MK40, Elite 98?

Sounds like a decent price. Very good if it includes factory night sights.

Personally, though, I skipped the MK40 and got an MK9 instead. The recoil on my K40 is quite nasty so I don't want to try the MK40. The MK9 is just fine. YMMV.

When I had my K40 upgraded to the Elite trigger several years back, they charged $100. Not cheap.

Thanks for the replies. Considering that I haven't even been able to see and hold a MK40 or a Mk9, I was just happy that the guy told me he could get me one. Unfortunately, the price does not include night sights.

1911: I have been considering the 9mm due to the reason you mentioned. Not real worried about capacity, but this would be a primary carry gun on occassions when I can't strap on my SIG 229. Therefore, I want to be able to put some big holes in the BG. I know the 9mm is effective, I carried a 9 for a lot of years. But I'd rather give up a round and gain some width, so to speak. At the same time, If I hate shooting the MK40, then I probably won't practice much with it, and that's not good either.

Don't be scared of it until you shoot it. I own a MK40 and I fear a PPK more than my .40.

My buddy and I did some "stress" firing at a bad guy target at 5 and 10 feet till the mag. was empty. 5 in the head and only pull 1 outside. All center mass shots were in.

Not to shabby.

My MK40 is a great pocket gun, and gets fifty rounds through it on a weekly basis. Recoil is not a problem, especially with the factory wood grips installed. They are just a tad wider, and give the web of your hand a nicer area of contact. The MK40 is a great little pocket pistol, easy to shoot well, easy to clean, and built like a tank. Gary

I paid 475 (U.S. $) for my little MK9. I was told that the Elite was another 80 or so. I believe that the price is the same for either the 9 or 40.

I believe that the Elite trigger is worth the up-charge.

Another bit of advice is that the MK40 has a nasty bit of recoil - you may like the 9 better.

I went on a hunt for one of these about a month ago. One shop had new .40 stainless for $590. Next to it was used 9mm elite for $450. Since it was vertually new I went with elite. Bought an extra 6 round mag and put pierce ext. on both 6 rounders.
Here is a really crappy, distorted pic for your enjoyment.

I'm also interested in the MK40. Is the trigger the only difference in the Elite 98 models?
Long heavy trigger pulls don't really bother me on a defense pistol. How is the trigger on a standard MK40?

Can anyone who's shot both versions comment on the differences?
Thanks
