Can somebody give me the going rates for:

USP45

USP45 Tactical

USP45 Expert

And, what the hell. What's the asking price for a SOCOM these days?

These are So Cal prices, I'm sure shopping around will get you a better deal, but you're looking at $750 for the USP 45 to $1500 for the Expert 45 and the Tactical (not available in CA) falls somewhere in between.
Another thing to factor in is that HK raises their prices 2X per year so sooner is usually ALWAYS cheaper than later.

Northern CA prices

USP 45-$799
USP 45 Expert-$1350
USP 45 Tactical - $2500+ on the black market in CA??:p
Haggling probably will bring down price by $50

USP 45 blue full size

April 25, 2002: I just paid $881.00 with tax DROS, you name it, that is my out the door price here in Huntington beach, CA. It may seem like much, but I feel lucky I even found one.:(

Take care,

Tuan's in Rowland Heights sells them for $730. That's what I paid for mine, but I bought mine at Evan's Gunsmithing in Tustin.

You could have saved some cash if you had checked with your fellow SoCal Firing Line members :)

$730 is false pricing if your talking out the door.

the $730 price is the cost you BEGIN to pay at "the firing line" add shipping , add dros, add tax, add gun lock, "the firing line" couldn't locate one just 45 minutes prior to my purchase at the other gun store.
I am a member of the firing line: good range but sometimes you may not find what you are looking for in purchasing a firearm. Bottom line: WHEN they could locate a HK USP 45, the price would have been $15.00 less.
Where as the shop I bought it from had one in stock, they didn't charge me for the gun lock, nor shipping either.:p

HK USP 45 at local Gander Mountain: $769.99

Keep in mind that Glocks run $569 - $599 in many cases here. I guess prices are just higher. :(

IIRC, ....

... a compact .45 HK USP, w/ an extra mag or two, was just over $800 in a local shop.

But it's been a while now, and just thinking about the initial sticker shock makes my head ache all over again. Maybe it's that Euro nouveau tech mag-release thingy that drives up the cost?

I'm still not clear what you're getting for plunking down the extra $$$ for the HK that you're not getting with a Sig or a Glock, but it must be something. Is it a poster for the bedroom wall? :D

Probably the HK's a fine pistol for somebody, just not sure who.

Working-class types are stuck with what they can afford.

Buy a SIG pro, better trigger, conventional rifling lower price, excellent quality.

HKs are too huge for me even the compact.

I saw a tactical at my club, its so big you could land an aircraft on the slide. It came with a lanyard. Its the worlds only crew serviced handgun.

It makes my 8 3/8" S&W 27-2 look like a pocket pistol.

Try to shoot them before you buy, its hard to tell what will fit your hand until you shoot it at the range.

HKs are too huge for me even the compact.

H&Ks are too big but the SigPro is fine for you??? I don't get it.

The SigPro 2340 measurements vs. H&K USP .40 is as follows:

SigPro

Height: 5.7
Length: 7.4
Width: 1.4
Weight w/o Mag: 27.2

H&K

Height: 5.35
Length: 7.6
Width: 1.26
Weight w/o Mag: 27.5

So the H&K's extra 0.2 inches of length and 0.3 ounces of weight classify it as huge, yet the SigPro is just right?

I find this to be a common complaint of the H&K, yet the numbers usually show that the H&K is fairly comparable in size to most of the handguns in it's size class. It LOOKS big, but it really isn't that big. . .

I just bought a NIB USP 45 SS at my local dealer for $719 two weeks ago.

Generally:

Tacticals - $900+
Experts - $1200
Mark 23 - $1800
Compacts - $700+

I paid $875 for my NIB Tactical, but that was 1-1/2 years ago. I think the average out-the-door price has been gradually increasing since then. But I like it so much, I'd pay full list for it if I had to.
