Price Check: CZ-85 Combat

How much is the asking price for a CZ-85 Combat, on average? Stainless finish preferred. I"m thinking of having a dealer order one for me.

another question

No FFL in my area is an "authorized CZ dealer". Does that mean he won't be able to order a CZ-85 Combat for me? If not, where in the heck can I find one?

CZ's

The 85 Combat has an MSRP of $586, about $100 more than the 75B. There is a Nickle and a two-tone version, but not Stainless or Chrome. Most people get the polymer finish, it's very durable.

CZ Connection can ship one to a local dealer.

Or, you can buy a 75B, put good sights on it (the 85 Combat on my old model aren't very good), the extended magazine release, drop-free magazine spring, and forgo the ambidextrous safety and slide lock. The 75B has a firing pin lock, which some people think hurts trigger feel. I don't - I think the new 75B's are as good as my older 85 Combat. I sent it away for a trigger job at Actions By T.

Thanks for the info! But the ambi saftey is an absolute requirement (unless the only saftey is a a decocker), as I'm left handed.

okay

Say I want to save myself some bucks and get the regular CZ-85B instead of the 85 combat. The CZ webpage says you can get a "drop free magazine spring" that will allow the magazines to drop free. Okay, cool, but I don't think it's listed under CZ's parts and accessories page. (Even if it was, CZ-USA doesn't have a phone number on their web page where you can order stuff). So, where would I find this part, how much would it cost, and how difficult is it to install? It's a drop-free magazine spring for all CZ-75 and 85s that don't have free fall magazines, so somebody here must have it.

You can flatten the mag "brake" easily or get one from czusa for
less than 12.00$ (I think) and takes about 5 minutes put the drop free one in. shoot well

Cool. I'll probably get the CZ-85B instead. Satin Nickel finish. I prefer the fixed sights...the adjustable ones pictured on the 85 Combat look very small, black, and hard to see.

How does one order things from CZ-USA? They don't have a phone number on their website.

I would be inclined to order a CZ75B SA model instead. Ambi safety, drop free mag brake, cocked and locked carry, and better trigger than the 85. Also, it is the same price as a regular 75B.

CZUSA sell through dealers. If you have none in your area, you can oder through AIM, for example.

They are in Kansas City

There's no firing pin block in the 85 Combat, which makes detail cleaning and spring replacement easier if you shoot a lot. Some folks also claim there are probs with dry firing with the block if you don't use snap caps (broken firing pins). Also, you get an ambi slide stop on the Combat. The sights are fine to shoot by, but the screw heads tend to wander on mine. I put a little clear nail polish on them to hold 'em, and use a perm marker to put index marks on screw and sight body just in case.

"There's no firing pin block in the 85 Combat, which makes detail cleaning and spring replacement easier if you shoot a lot."

Great point, that reason alone is worth an extra $150 for the non B model. Taking apart the slide on the 75B has proven to be the biggest pain in the ass dealing with firearms yet.

Anyone else done it besides me ? Don't have the armorer's manual ? Didn't think so.

Tom at Sporting Arms (sportingarms.com) got me a dual tone and 2 satin nickel CZ 85 Combats. Cost was $439 each. Great guy to work with. Haven't had one malfunction or problem with any of the CZ 85 Combats.
