pressure question... opinions needed...

my retired machinist buddy is looking to do something with his MAS 36

Century Arms did some imports in .308

my buddy is wondering if 358 Winchester or 243 would be safe in the gun

we're talking strictly pressures... not that the rifle has no safety, or that the 358 would not feed without a feed ramp... but .243 would be easy, but commecial .243 is higher pressure than military .308

flame on...

Century never imported MAS 36 rifles in .308. They imported them in 7.5x54 and converted them to .308. I had to six the forearm and handguard on mine because they cut off the forearm locking lug when they shortened the forearm.

The MAS action isn't considered especially strong, I'd approach the project with caution.
