Pressure points on Factory Remington Synthetic stock.

I was wondering what everyones opinion is on Removing the pressure points on Remington Factory Synthetic stocks. I have been told by a few local Smiths that it will shoot more accurate without them because it allows the barrel to free float. But I had another smith tell me just the opposite. Any thoughts?

Different rifles are different here. Heavier barrels generally do better free floated. Thinner barrels can benefit from a pressure bedding.

The thing that gets me to free-float most ot my rifles is the sensitivity to pressure on the forestock that you get with pressure-bedded rifles. They will tend to shoot in different places as you move from sand bags to standing unsupported, to standing using a sling to rested over a log...

If you free float the barrel and leave enough room, the pressure you put on the forestock won't effect your point of impact any where near as much.

Dear Shooter:
First, glass bed the reciol shoulder area with Brownells "steel-bed." Then, free float that bbl clear out from the action face.
It'll shoot then.
