President Bush...a rumor at work

A guy at work told me President Bush just stated he will support and sign a bill introduced to ban 'assault weapons' and 'hi cap' magazines like before.

Rumor? Haven't heard anything personally.

I heard something like that last year or the year before. Don't worry about it now. Worry about it after the 08 elections.

My be a rumor but it is perfectly consistent with his past behavior. He will stand for nothing constitutional. The bill or rights is merely a pile of poker chips he can use in the great game of power.

Wow, this is old knowledge. He has always said he will sign it.

What i'm hoping is that he has line-item veto by then. May save some, but not all of our loved firearms.

How about THIS rumor! When the AWB was about to "sunset", President Bush announced that he would sign an extension of it, or a new AWB, if it reached his desk.
Well, from a RELIABLE source, Bush privately explained to several aides and cabinet members that he DIDN'T want to see any such legislative documents on his desk! Bush supposedly said that there are enough gun laws already, and that the AWB had not been effective....and that "guns will NOT be an issue". If you care to look back to the days after the AWB "sunset", guns were actually almost a NON-issue point, and on BOTH sides of the aisle.

A huge issue is how to define 'assault weapon' so we do not affect all semi-autos. Meanwhile, I am starting to move from semi to wheels on hand guns! Plus, may swap out my 1100's for O/U's. Even if George doesn't here come the Dems! Call me paranoid, I guess.:barf:

The real issue at hand is barrel shrouds.

Yep, I heard that too

And pistol grips. (I can just imagine a Brady or VPC type trying to expand the number of weapons covered in AWB Mk.II: "This is a pistol. It has a grip. Since the grip is on the pistol, it is a pistol grip. Pistol grips are a feature of assault weapons.")
