Pre-Taurus USA Model 65 Identification

My father and I recently bought a M65 for my grandfather to keep in the house. I tried to look up the serial number online and came back with nothing, I called customer service and the guy said that because it was pre-1984? that it was not in his system. The SN is 286XX and the crane has " Y 455" on it. Is there any way to more closely identify what model year it is? Thanks in advance!

Revolverpilot's Taurus isn't anywhere near as old as the one in that thread. There are no machined striations in the cylinder flutes like Taurus liked to do on their older guns.

And it looks to be in pretty good shape. I'm not even seeing a turn ring, nor scuffing on the ejector rod.
