Pre-ban mags for Vepr II?

I'm getting ready to order some pre-ban Soviet or Chinese AK mags, including steel 7.62x39 and plastic 5.45x39 30-rounders. I'd like to be aware of any pitfalls. Has anyone found any military AK mags that don't fit the Vepr II and that I should avoid? Any advice would be appreciated. I'm a newbie where the Vepr is concerned.

The only mistake would be paying too much. Aim Surplus has East German bakelite 5.45 mags for $4 each for four or more. Robinson uses the same ones for their "factory" magazines for both the 5.45 and 5.56 Vepr II's.
 
Bulgarian plastic (waffle type) or metal fit just fine in the 7.62x39 - Get them from Magua Industries for about $10 each brand new. Barn.
 
My 7.62x39 VEPR II takes Bulgarian and Chinese mags with full function and ABSOLUTELY no problems. NEVER a failure to feed (or fire or extract). Best.
