Are they still available for sale?

Are there any left that are new or will they all be used?

What's the typical price for a Pre-ban lower and in what condition?

What's the average price for a new post-ban lower?

Thanks!:) I'm still learning!

Pre - Post ?? Depends on purpose

For collecting, then the Pre-ban is your best bet, you can legally have all the "evil" features provided that you have verification that the pre-ban lower was built into a rifle before September 1994. Most companies will have serial number records for reference. Pre-ban lowers are still around. They range in price from $650 to $1000 depending on brand and condition. Check the following boards for sales.

If you just want a shooter, go postban, a bayo lug and flash hider don't add to your advantage when shooting hi-power. Post ban lowers go from $100 - $200 in stripped form.

Take a look at what you'll be doing with the lower, then go from there. FWIW.

I bet someone has a "new in box" rifle sitting around somewhere that they would be willing to part with for a lot of money. Note that the lower receiver had to be manufactured as a complete gun before the ban and couldn't have just been a lower that was lying around and just now built into a working gun after the ban.

I haven't been looking for pre-ban lowers. Whole rifles seem to go for $1200, $1500, or more. Maybe (just a guess) lowers might sell for $600 or $800.

I would say about $250 to $300 or so.

You can find out more about AR15 rifles in the forums at http://www.ar15.com/. (Not that the firing line doesn't have knowledgeable members.)
