Pre 64 Winnie 94

As I was strolling at lunch thru my local gun emporium today I spied a pre 64 Winchester 94 with receiver sight in 32Win cal. It appeared in very good condition outside and a good bore. Luckily I had my Visa card with me so it is now mine. Questions: I am unfamiliar with shooting this cal. How does it compare with 30/30 or 35rem in accuracy, range, knockdown etc... My readings on this cal say it is on par with the 30/30. True? how can I tell if the rifle has headspace problems as I have read is sometimes a Winchester malady.

Hearsay about the .32WCF, from 40 or 50 years ago: The cartridge supposedly was intended for those who would reload with black powder and lead bullets.

Other than that, SFAIK, it's just a little bit "fatter" thutty-thutty. Basically, a good, 200-yard deer rifle. I'd guess that with the peep sight, you can hold around 2" or so at 100 yards; probably, 3" at worst.

I have my grandfather's model 94 32WinSP, age unknown, but I remember it leaning in it's corner about 45 years ago. I have used it for deer and just plinking around. A couple of years ago I noticed the brass I had shot developed a slight fracture near the neck. The gunsmith diagnosed a headspace problem and replaced the block, problem solved.

I have been handloading for it since then. It has a rear peep sight and I can hold two or three inch groups at 100 yards quite easily. I was recently suprised that I could hit a 12" steel square reliably at about 250 yards, holding just at the top of the square.
