They have an excellent condition Winchester 94 .30-30, 1950s manufacture, in a local shop for $400. The guy in the shop said it would be $600, but the previous owner decided to put a sling swivel stud in the stock, knocking $200 off the value.
Hoo, Lordy, is this thing nicer than my trapper. No spring loaded trigger. Nice clean break. The lever locks up tight, but the action is as smooth as glass. No silly crossbolt saftey.
Why in hell did they stop making them like this?
Anyway, I currently have a $400 spending limit when my money comes in next week or so. Do you think this would be $400 well spent, or should I get the shotgun, the new Marlin 336W (even with it's cheap-feeling hardwood stock, it's still a nice rifle), or something else?
