prayer in schools

Cuz

New member
I went to my daughters school one day last week(shes in the 3rd grade) and was amazed and overjoyed to hear that they were allowing a "moment of silence" for silent prayer!
When I asked the teacher about it, she told me that it was "official", just something the faculty agreed was a good idea.
I guess some people realize it when they see a good thing. Cuz

Someone explain to this poor ol' pagan... what's the big deal about officially-sanctioned prayer? I mean, kids have prayed in school as long as there's *been* school, whether or not the petty tyrants, er, administrators approve. "God, please help me pass this test." "God, I *need* to score with that hottie in the front row!"

Coin...
Official prohibitions against it resemble thought control.
A moment set aside for "silent prayer" or contemplation should offend no one, other than the unreasonable or those who indeed seek to control thought.

If a student doesn't want to pray or believe, thats fine...all they have to do is be quiet and still for a moment...no harm in that either.

When I was in school, we did the Pledge to the Flag. Some kids didn't participate due to religious views...thats fine. They just kept quiet during that minute.
