Read your blog and would have to agree that circumstances were not optimal.

I have a pal who is an avid shooter, and we have talked for several years about a 'dog shoot and how to go about it.....but we've never gotten beyond the conversation stage and "we should go."

Your shoot seems a bit later in the year than what my pal is suggesting we look into......he's talking May in the Dakotas. I'll be watching this thread to see what I might learn.

We usually visit the Q Creek Ranch in early June. They were booked this year. They are a great place. A little on the high side, but well worth it in my opinion.

Our lessons learned:

Ask a LOT of questions up front.

Don't assume anything.

Ask about payment terms before sending the deposit.

Ask where you will be hunting and HOW OFTEN THE TOWNS ARE HUNTED.

My dad used to go to Spearfish, SD in early spring.
