PPQ 45!

I got a new PPQ 45about a week ago. WOW. Nothing I've ever had (including 5 CZ's) has been this accurate. The first 20 shots fired at 25 feet produced an 18 rd hole and the next 10 shots fired produced an 8 rd hole. I ran 100 thru it with no issues. With the extended mag, my Mod 2 9mm is the same height, but the Mod is an inch shorter in length. Width is almost the same. Surprisingly, this PPQ 45 kicks more than the smaller Mod 2 .45 that I used to have. The trigger and reset are shorter than any striker fired pistol I've had. Thankfully, this PPQ also fits the Rawdog holster made for the Mod 2 9mm, except for the barrel protruding 1/4-1/2 inch. Guess I'll have to get another Clinger IWB holster for this one, too, though.

I got to handle six or eight new Walthers, including the PPQ .45; M2? Nice trigger, for a striker-fired gun.
I'd shot the Q5 earlier, and will be getting the CCP and PPS for a test. They all feel good in the hand, and do seem to cover just about all the handgun bases.

Love mine. I got to review a before it was released and couldn't give the gun back. Too good.

All you need is a set of night sights.

I got mine about two months ago and it really is a great shooter. Not a hiccup and its a .45 with what I consider to rank among the high capacity breed so I can (and have) carried it. The gun has accomplished the ability to work as a service sidearm or concealable.

Honestly, the plastic sights it comes with left me a little flat. But I did replace them with Trijicon steel nite sights and that made me happier with it.

Enjoy!

I've been considering picking up a PPQ 45. The quality, reliability, accuracy, and capacity are there for sure.

I haven't had the opportunity to test fire one, but have read about and seen on YouTube, multiple comments to the effect that there is more felt recoil with the PPQ than with other similar size .45s. That gives me some pause. Of course that doesn't eliminate the PPQ 45 from my consideration, but does make me more strongly consider alternatives such as the M&P45 and the P320 45. In the case of the M&P45, I would probably install an Apex sear & striker block, which makes the trigger on the M&P exceptionally good. The P320 45 has an excellent trigger from the get-go. Both of these options are 10+1=11 capacity, whereas the PPQ 45 is 12+1=13 capacity, and I appreciate the extra two rounds on board. BUT, at the expense of heavier felt recoil/slower return to target? That's my conundrum.

A test fire is definitely in order as to the PPQ .45 M2. While I've never shot the P320 in .45, I do have other .45s, including some 1911s, and I haven't noticed any felt recoil with the PPQ above and beyond what you'd typically expect from any of my other .45s.

As to my other striker-fired weapons, all 9mm however, including the P320, I notice a sort of "springiness" to them when firing. It gives me the sensation of a staple gun. The PPQ surprisingly (and pleasantly) does not leave me with that springiness when firing.

Anyway, if you get a chance try one out.

Armedleo... thanks for your comments.

The plastic sights aren't anything that would dissuade me, but higher relative recoil might.

Unfortunately, my local range doesn't rent the PPQ 45. They do rent them in 9 and 40, however. I guess I could rent the 40 and compare it to my P320 40.

Fwiw, I rented a PPQ M2 .45 at Shooter's World in Phoenix. Good accuracy, great trigger, I didn't notice any untoward recoil either.

Mosin44az... thank you for that. I've never shot at Shooter's World, but I'm in Scottsdale, so not too far from there. Sounds like I need to pay a visit there!
