PPK :oaded Chamber Indicator

Thiokol

I have an Interarms PPK that I purchased used a couple of weeks ago. I noticed that the loaded chamber indicator was not under spring tension so I disassembled the slide. The long arm of the spring was not seated but I have no idea how the spring should be seated. Can anyone tell me how to install the loaded chamber indicator properly?

Thiokol,
First, place the loaded chamber indicator with the "bulb" end toward the front of the pistol (muzzle end). That will leave the tail toward the rear of the pistol. Place the spring on the "tail end" of the loaded chamber indicator with the part of the spring that extends about one-half inch toward the front of the gun with the extended portion toward the top of the gun. This will keep the loaded indicator down until a round is actually placed into the chamber pushing the loaded indicator up and then the frame causes the loaded indicator to extend out of the rear of the pistol when it is in battery. Hope this helps. Dave

Dave,

The pistol was formerly owned by a police officer and was obviously kept loaded for a long time as the spring was compressed. I stretched out the spring, reinstalled it, and it now functions perfectly. Thanks again for your help.
