Power Pistol or AA #7 10mm for 10mm?

I'm about to start working up my first 10mm rounds. I'd planned to use Power Pistol or Accurate #7. Which do you recommend out of those two?

Thanks.

Had good luck with both. Which one meters better out of your set-up.

I am a tad more partial to Power Pistol for 10mm loads.

Both

I've loaded quite a bit of 10mm Auto with both propellants.

Both work quite well and you can't hardly go wrong with either. Their burn rate is ideal for the application; with AA#7 being slightly slower, and thus, eeks out a little more velocity.

I load almost entirely 180gn jacketed bullets with both. Although I have made some screaming 165s with Power Pistol. But I just like 180's. I think of 165's as being more of a 40 S&W bullet.

I don't have my recipes or chrono data with me, as I am currently 2000 miles from home, visiting Mom in Oklahoma. But I do know that I load and shoot more of the Power Pistol variety. However, AA#7, being a little slower, is the velocity champ by a slight margin.

My two 10mm guns are a Glock 20sf, and a Glock 29sf. Since we're talking barrel lengths of 4.6" and 3.7" respectively, I choose not to use any powder that is slower than AA#7. A bunch of people are going to chime in recommending AA#9, and I'm sure it delivers excellent velocities. But I'd rather not use such a slow powder unless my 10's had longer barrels (and/or heavier bullets). That's just me. #7 gives plenty of velocity with less thrust recoil, flash, etc. - you know, all the stuff associated with slow powders.

To conclude . . . Both propellants are excellent choices. If you're loading 165's, I'd recommend Power Pistol. If you're loading 180's, either one is great. And if you're loading 200's, you'd probably want to go with #7 (or even #9 might come into play with the heavy 200's).

I'll be shooting them out of a S&W 1076 with a 4.25" barrel and will probably stick to 180 grain projectiles for the most part.

If I ever end up with a G40 I thought I might look into something like AA9.

I've used AA7 for 155's and 180's. It's done well for me. I use AA7 and Longshot. I'm going to try some 200's at some point before deer season, but AA7 has probably been the better of the 2 powders IMHO.
