recently have been marking my cases with a sharpie with load data........simple accident had a mishap and all me loads ended up on ground.....ones marked was no problem ,others that were marked in column in box were all mixed up ,so not knowing, had to break down cases ,and only powder was wasted question is , some loads the powder stuck in cases and had to be encouraged to exit with a small screw driver, so what caused this? loaded on a humid day? regards CJ

You don't mention the powder? Powder can clump for any number of reasons including compressed loads when the bullet is seated and extreme humidity during the loading process. My own observation is that ball or spherical powders are more likely to "clump" than extruded stick type powders and again only under very humid conditions.

That's My Take....

If it's a compressed load, that can do it. Powder is basically a hard plastic, and given time to relax enough, it can lock into itself. Stick powders that have vibrated in transport and the like can lock the sticks together some. After that, I have to say I've also seen it in loads where the powder was starting to break down. It was double-base powder, and as the nitrocellulose matrix containing the nitroglycerin breaks down, it lets the nitro out and the powder gets oily looking and sticks together.

i believe h4350 308 not compressed, didnt shoot them because could not know what charges were all under max but would be waste of time

H4350 is an extruded type powder I am surprised it clumped especially in a load which wasn't compressed. As pointed out, if the powder is beginning to break down it can clump or extreme humidity and I figure that much humidity you would notice. Hopefully someone else has a thought?
