Powder River Precision

I installed the Powder River kit on my XDs .45 and have had a couple of light strikes. This makes me extraordinarily uncomfortable for a carry gun. I think the stock trigger is garbage to the point where it affects my aim. Does anyone else have the Powder River kit on their XDs and have you had issues with light strikes and failure to fires? Thanks!

Buddy of mine put the Powder River spring kit in his XDs .45 and it cleaned up what was a fairly crummy trigger pull. We have shot this little gun a ton since with mostly reloads with no issues.. I know that the XD line needs to have the striker channel really clean and dry - no dirt or residue or lube and that some have been known to come from the factory slightly gummed up which caused light strikes. That would be worth checking. I have Powder River parts in my XDMs and feel their stuff is top notch. The folks at Powder River will be glad to help you so talk to them. Good luck and safe shooting

Then put the striker spring back in. The kit is more than just the striker spring. Putting the stock spring back in will increase the weight a bit, but that's better than light strikes and it should still be improved overall.

Really? How so, the weight? You mean you can't hit the target with the stock trigger?

Put the kit in a pre-recall xds 45 had a few light strikes, put the factory spring back in problem solved.+1 on keeping the channel clean and dry.

I used all the springs except the striker springs in both my XD45 and XDM40. I haven't had any problems. Trigger pull is still much improved.

Thanks for the feed back guys. I did not install all of the springs yet since I didn't have a punch kit handy. I will install the rest of the springs and clean and lube the striker channel. If I still get light strikes, I will put back the stock striker spring.

I am a decent shot and the trigger pull affects my accuracy to the point where I notice it. I can still hit the target okay, but I think it causes me to shoot slightly low. I am a bit obsessive compulsive and I like my guns to shoot well.

I'll keep you guys posted. Thanks again for the feedback!

A friend asked me to please put a Powder River drop in trigger kit in his XDm 45. The kit came with a choice of "combat' or "target" springs along with the hardware. Well, of course he wanted the lightest setup so he wants the "target' springs. I told him that was fine except for the lighter striker spring. His gun gets shot a ton, with reloads, and doesn't get meticulously cleaned on a regular basis. I told him that in my opinion he was asking for trouble using that weaker spring. But he wants it anyway so in it goes. Long story short we go to a steel shoot last weekend, where it was very cold, and lo and behold we hear bang, bang, click, slide rack, bang, click, slide rack, etc. You get the picture. I'm gonna be coy. He's gonna have to ask me to change out that spring. That means he will have learned his lesson. By the way that kit really made the XDm trigger nice.
