Powder cop on progressive

I do. It is not a must-have for me, since all my pistol or rifle loads would have powder spilling out of the case if I somehow got a double charge.

I tell everyone thinking of buying a progressive to get a die that will warn you of a bad charge. It's not about "IF" it will happen, but "WHEN".

My first progressive was a 550b and it took about 5k rounds till I hit a squib. I then had 2 squibs within 500 rounds. Life is tough enough, I don't need reloading accidents. I sold the 550b as fast as I could and bought a 650 with powder check die. Also quit the use of Unique as that was the powder that gave the squibs.

I use them when I can but you obviously don't have to have them.

I don't recall a squib or double kaboom thread where one was used...

No you do not HAVE to have one. But a little extra safety isn't a bad idea. If you are sure of all of your safety procedures and never have any laps in judgement then you should be fine. that said I have one on my press. but as always load safely the life you save may be your own.:p

Not having room on my press after adding a bullet feeder die, I get along fine with my discipline of looking in the well-lit case for powder before placing a bullet.

I am over my quota on squibs prior to this, so I know what careful means.

I don't have bullet feeder dies for every caliber, so I do use either the powder cop or lock out sometimes.
