Starting a 10/22 build for my daughter. I want to either duracoat or have the receiver powder coated. My question is can the inside be painted or do i leave it alone and only worry about the exterior of the receiver?

How old is your daughter? What does she like?

First off...do NOT Duracoat, from experience it's a crap ass product not worth the money. Look into Cerakote. Much better product.

Second, have you ever heard or seen hydro dipping? You can put a pretty cool design on the stock too.

Check out www.liquidtransformations.com. a local place for me that does Cerakote and hydro dipping.

Worth looking into

I have had twoguns dipped... I like the way it looks but im thinking a nice powdercoat job just wondered how duracoat was".......... And my daughter is two and a half :) i was thinking pink powder coat and u helped me make up my mind

Keep it on the sunny-side !!!

Although there is enough clearance inside the reciever, I would suggest that you just leave it alone. Keep in ming that this internal coating, will eventually start to flake off and then could be a problem. That is exactly what is happening to the coating on the latest issue of the 10/22's. It starts on the inside of the port and creeps out. .... ;)

If you decide to do so and keep in mind that it serves no purpose, there are areas that you will have to protect or exclude. :)

Pahoo ... So should i strip the inside and then leave it alone si i have no future problems...... Im sending the bolt to be jeweled and pinned and headspaced .... This is an old 10/22 was given to me in not great shape

I had my 870 powdercoated. The powdercoating has thickness and you will not be able to assemble the gun until all of the powdercoating is cleaned out of the action. (ask me how I know).

I suggest taping off the inside of the action before you drop it off so that your work will be minimal to get it to run again. Other than that, the finish is weatherproof and very durable.

Not sure what you have ???

I don't know what generation you have and I prefer the older ones, to the new. Throughout the years, there have been many coating or anadizing processes. I don't know what you have, so for now, I'd say to leave it alone as I don't think you have a problem. Keep in mind that you can always carry your new coat, inside the side port. What say you??? ...

Sounds like you have a good project on you hands. It's been a long time since I did one is this bad of shape. I think I use ceramacoat and left the inside natural. it was black anadized. ... :)

Ill post some pictures of the parts before they are sent in and after ..... Im not sure what finish this has but the top was already flaking and a wire wheel takes the rest right off ....... Im excited to build it for her .... Going with a threaded barrel and spressor next .... Will see if a misused gun can be brought back to life
