Potential Weapons Ban

Just wondering. I really don't think it will happen since congressmen wish to be reelected. Do you suppose that the proposed ban might exempt US military surplus firearms sold by CMP, a congressionally chartered program? Many buyers are veterans of the US military. :cool:
 
The CMP survived the Clintons. The Democrats remember voting for a weapons ban in 1994. Then came the election and the Dems got knocked out of the saddle. The Clintons nor the Dems have forgotten 1994. They are always going to test the water. If the water is to hot they wont take the dip, they will just badmouth the NRA as usual. Bill Clinton respects the NRA and Gun owners and is wishing he had killed the weapons ban bill in 1994. We have now had 9/11 and Katrina which has effected private gun ownership. Jack Brooks was a local Democrat( who was very powerful in the halls of Congress) who had been in Congress a looooong time. He thought he had enough political capital with the home folks to make a compromise for funding in exchange for a yea vote on the gun ban bill. he was put out to pasture and a republican was elected.
 
How much longer do you think the CMP can sell firearms anyway since there is a finite number of M1 rifles, M1 carbines and 03 bolt actions? Or are we overestimating the number of people actually interested in those firearms?

Something the democrats didn't consider when they started this net neutraulity agenda

An alert visitor to a Buncombe County School District library noticed that Web access is being denied to sites sympathetic to gun rights issues. (The district is the eighth largest in North Carolina, with over 24,000 kids.) However access to sites such as Handgun Control, Inc. is not being blocked. An example of what a patron sees when trying to access a site that has been "filtered" can be seen here. Unfortunately this case of blatant political censorship of the gun control debate in our public schools is not limited to Buncombe County

There's only one way to deal with sheep-killing dogs, and it's not to put more restrictions on the sheep
 
I think they'll posture for it but not let it get to a vote. So they can get air time calling against the weapons but not have to actually vote in a dangerous manner.

It's like Charley Wrangle. He regularly calls for a draft for the military but whenever his own bill gets to the floor he votes against it.
