    1. Copying and pasting entire articles from another site to TFL is strictly prohibited. The same applies to articles from print or other media, and to posting photographs taken of copyrighted pages or other media.

    2. Copyright law provides for “fair use” of portions of a copyrighted work. You can copy no more than a SINGLE paragraph from the article to your post (3 or 4 sentences at most).

    3. You must provide a link to the article along with the name of website. For example: ww.xxx.yyy/zzz (The Lower Thumbsuck Daily News).

    4. You must provide, in your own words, a brief summary of the article AND your reasons for believing it will be of interest to TFL members. Failure to do so may result in the thread being closed or your post being deleted as a “cut and paste drive by.”

    5. Photographs and other images are also copyrighted. "Hotlinking" of images (so that it appears in your message) from other sites is also prohibited unless you own rights to the image. If you wish to share an image, provide a clickable link to it.

    Posts that do not follow these new guidelines will be altered or deleted by staff. Members who continue to violate this policy may lose their posting privileges at TFL.

    Thank you for your cooperation and your participation in TFL, the leading online forum for firearms enthusiasts.

Hello,

I just ried to post in the Buy, sell, or trade handguns forum and received and error message saying that i did not have rights to creat a new thread. Any help you could provide would be appreciated. Thanks.

I can't read it for you, but I can point out that there is a rules thread at the top of each of the Gun Show buy/sell/trade forums that has been there for several years. Any one of them should give you the answer to the problem.

The rule that got you was probably this one;

1. You must be a member in good standing for at least 30 days and have 25 MEANINGFUL posts in the other discussion forums. In other words, "+1", emoticons etc. without a discernable statement involved do not apply. Postings in the Gun Show Forum, with the exception of the Feedback subforum, do not add to post count.

Settle in, and join some of the discussions. You'll meet the requirements before you know it.

With all due respect I don't really understand the rule where you have to have at least 30 posts to be able to post in this topic? What is the objective?

The objective is this: the Gun Show is a benefit for our members. Our members are here for discussion, learning or teaching, not only to sell or buy.

We aren't running a business here. If 30 days membership and 25 posts is too much to tolerate, there is always Gunbroker.

That's correct, Devildog. Rules were augmented back in May, '09 for the very reason Bud gave.

Rich's focus was to provide a board for discussions and discussions only. The
Gun Show is merely a perk for those that contribute to the cause.
