Targets as Posters
When I lived in a suburban city next to San Francisco we were having some problems with the teen-age boys in the neighborhood. I decided that some pschology might work with some of these kids so I obtained a USSS target of a bad guy in a suit holding a revolver. I took it to the range at our office. Shot six holes at center mass with wad cutters, took the target home, placed some red paper behind the shot group, and hung it in my basement. When I focused a 60 watt bulb on it, the effect from outside the house was quite remarkable when the garage door was open.
The kids confronted me on my Vespa scooter one day and asked to see my revolver. I told them that I had it with me and that I was forbidden by agency policy from showing it around. They said that they did not believe me since I would not let them see it. I told them, with a wry smile, that I was carrying and that they never wanted to see the firearm.
One weekend several neighbors had their homes broken in to. My house was spared and I wondered if my little "exhibit" had anything to do with it?
