This is from some private land that is not posted (for now, anyway; we never know when it will be gone), in Putnam County, NY (two counties above New York City).

Although not the thickest in the world, it isn't wide open, either. You can see that the woods are thick enough that deer sightings are usually fleeting and you have to act fast...

You can legally hunt on other people's property if it isn't posted? What a bargain, no taxes, no insurance and no upkeep. Just show up and hunt.

I don't think that I would much care to own property in New York. I would be worried that a hunter may show up and remove the signs just to hunt.

Doesn't seem right.

Oh it's great...if the land is not posted & not improved (i.e. if it's just wooded and not developed at all) then anyone can legally go on it & hunt, fish, etc.

If you don't want anyone on your land, then you just put up posted signs, which are pretty cheap to buy.

In my 35 years I have never heard of people ripping down posted signs. It probably does happen of course, but it must be very rare...

Here in Florida land needs not posted, fenced or otherwise... If the owner doesn't give you written permission than you are pushing your luck...

Well, Arizona is something like 87% public land, so I hunt a lot of different areas.

This first picture is in the Chiricahua Mtns a few years back. I shot a bear many years ago down in the bottom of the canyon I'm facing.

This next picture was taken up north, in Arizona's Mogollon Rim country. Not a bad little mulie buck.

I took this picture on the west side of the Swiss Helm Mtns of southeast Arizona. It's big country, with lots of hiding places for deer.

And this last one was taken on the east side of the Dragoon Mtns. A nice little javalina if that had been what I was hunting.

Well mine is not as nice as you boys out west, but I did get a pick of a few doe from one of my ladder stands.

Nice deer hunt, if it wasn't for those darn turkeys!

I was all settled in for a long hunting nap, when what to my wondrous eyes should appear but twenty or so turkeys. I thought it was supposed to be antelope and deer playing, not turkeys!

This is on Redlands WMA about 30 miles south of where I live here in GA. It's a little more than 30,000 acres.

That was my initial thought as will. I then took a closer look, it looks like she is using her left foot to scratch her right foot/ankle.

Scrap, I wish I could find some pics of where I was hunting in Chenango county NY last weekend, I might be able to find them, but in most cases it was a bit thicker than your pics were. I shot my first deer last weekend up there and was surprised I could even get the shot off in such thick surroundings. I had to make a noise 3 different times to get the deer to stop, as the first two it stopped with the vitals behind a tree each time. Ill try to find those pics to put up.

Rembrandt, is that buck lame on his hind leg that is standing by the fence in your picture just below the turkeys? That leg looks awful swollen too me, or it could just be the angle of the picture.

Have seen a lot of injured deer this year....you're right, the top photo looks like the hind foot was caught in a fence or something. The lower one has a damaged/swollen left front leg joint.
