Post Ban Compensators?

This says its legal to install on Post ban AR-15's. From what I have heard and read, the BATF says only if it is permenately attached. Actually, the BATF web site says that Assault Rifles are illegal. hmmmm

Does anyone have any good links to sites with the Post Ban mods allowed to assault rifles in a none government language so I can actually understand what they are saying?

Looks like that sucker just has some hex bolts that clamp it to the muzzle... wonder if it's worth a darn. I'm not clear on the laws, but a compensator/brake is legal... a flash hider is not. I should have my AR kit here in a couple weeks, then have my black rifle built. I don't think the recoil will be much of a factor, but if muzzle flip is enough that it greatly interrupts sight picture, I might consider one of these little puppies!

you are allowed 2 evil features
(except in California where all non registered semi auto ARs are now illegal)

here is the list:

detachable magazine (defines the rifle class)

pistol grip
flash hider (rifle genade launcher)
bayonet lug
threaded barrel end
tele stock

most people think the pistol grip and detachable magazine are must have features

you are allowed an ATF tested non flashhiding compensator
if the device is threaded you must permanently attach via pin & weld or 2000 degree solder

if the barrel has a non threaded muzzle
several manufacturers have slip on set screw devices

the recommended mounting procedure is to drill dent holes into the barrel
and lock tite the set screws in
some guys have a machinist cut a slot around the barrel end

if the muzzel device is the same diameter as the Vortex military flash hider
guess what?

the device is capable of mounting a military rifle gernade
and is an illegal postban gernade launcher!

because some compensator designs can reduce the accuracy of the rifle
some designs install flush to the crowned barrel end
making the 16 inch barrel appear to be a 14.5 inch military with a flash hider

of course this design does nothing but increase the CDI factor
