Possible trade Bersa .380 for Taurus 605 357mag

A friend of mine just started concealed carry and wanted something different than his Taurus 605. I've shot it before and I wasn't to keen on the 357 loads we used but I want a wheelgun of some kind. I have a Bersa Thunder .380 (w/2 mags & 2 holsters) and I want to trade but wanted other opinions before I asked him. My everyday carry piece is a Glock 17 so this wouldn't be my primary but as required.

I have owned six Taurus revolvers, one of which was the 605, and have had extreme mechanical problems with three of them. For the sake of accuracy and honesty the 605 was not one with which I had a problem.

However, based on my personal experience with Taurus products I would be hard pressed to recommend a trade for aother handgun. Quality control and customer service are Taurus weak spots. If your Bersa is working - keep it.

My experience with my 605 is positive. I carry mine daily. It is as accurate and as reliable as any snubbie I have I have ever shot. Opinions vary.

Why get rid of the Bersa?

If you do not like .357s in the 605 (which I'll assume is a 2" and not the 3") then that leaves you w/ .38s or medium velocity .357s (which are not really any better from a two inch barrel). I no longer see the point of a short barrel magnum.

Having owned or own a 2" .38 (Taurus 85UL and steel) and a 3" .357 (Ruger SP101), I prefer the 7+1 or the 9+1 from my Bersa for HD and carry. I shoot it better and have more rounds. I know, I know, there is something about a wheel gun that I love, but in guns that size, I'm better with my Bersa. Keep the Bersa and save up for the Taurus 85 Ultralite. They are not a whole lot of money. I've owned 5 Tauri w/o a problem, but give it a close inspection AS YOU SHOULD WITH ANY GUN before you by it. If you just want a wheel gun for the sake of a wheel gun, get a 4" or better .357. Just my opinion.

Stink.

I vote No on this trade.

I assume your Bersa has been reliable.

My 605 not only kicked HARD, even with .38 ammo, but it locked up a couple of times during its first trip to the range, indicating the action had not been put together correctly.

Don't trade a reliable gun for a Taurus. If you want a wheelgun, go with Ruger or Smith.

Thanks for all the replies, I'm not going to bring the trade and keep looking elsewhere. Maybe get a G26 (to replace the Bersa) and a 4" revolver to fill the "want a wheelgun" void.
