Possible machining flaw?

Hey guys just purchased my first savage rifle. It is a mark 2 TR 22LR. I am very impressed with the rifle in general but there is one thing that seems odd. At the mouth of the barrel where the cartridge is chambered there is a small lip all the way around. U have to look very close to see it and u can feel it with a fingertip. Is this normal? The gun seems to shoot very well. Havent tried any groups yet so I dont know how consistent it will shoot. Should I send it in? Thanks guys.

I'm not sure but it might help with loading the cartridge. Shoot some groups and see what it does. If it shoots well then let it be.

I checked out MY TR barrel as a reference and found no such lip on the barrel. Are rounds slightly hard to chamber? If it shoots well I would just leave it alone. Might give you a slight accuracy edge by slightly tighter headspace? Maybe someone else will chime in with their two cents. My TR shoots very well and I hope yours will do the same. Really fun rifle to shoot.

Sometimes the last round on the mag will hang up and wont chamber mainly with lead bullets. I went and shot some 50 yd groups and it seemed to group well with some occasional flyers. Not sure if it was me, the rifle, or the ammo causing the flyers though. I tried two boxes of federal match target. The first box grouped well but the second box was pretty bad. Tried some bulk federal high velocity and it didnt group good at all. Need to spend some more time with it. I just hate to have to send it in for warranty when I just got the thing.

Looks like a chamfer to break the sharp edge. I would not worry about it. Are you talking about that little edge break going around the end of the chamber?

If so, that is a common and accepted machining practice.

I do see what you are talking about. I still do not think I would be too concerned about it. Other than the raised area you show, is there another problem with the gun?

If so, I would send it back. If not, I would shoot it.
