Lithium grese... aka Lubriplate was used on the locking lugs of M-i and M-14 rifles as well as various surfaces on machineguns.. I don't think there is anything wrong with it, but there are many newer things.
Isn't Simle Green one of those wondercleaners from TV infomercials? If so, it's probably water based and not that good for guns.
