Possible Bersa Thunder .380?

I have had no issues with firing, slide jamming up or anything like that. 500rnds and no problem. But what I discovered is when I slam a loaded mag in it with the slide back, it automatically chambers (not fires) a new round. (Slam doesn't seem to be a good word...more like intensely insert). I can't find anyone who has this issue, if it's even an issue. It doesn't do this when I just put one in. Any one have input on this subject?

Are you sure that after you cleaned it last time you inserted the slide lock properly and all the way in. It could also be warn and needs to be replaced.

The BT380 does that when slam a mag in the handle. It's a little disconcerting at first, but you will get used to it. There is nothing dangerous to worry about.

Several guns do that as a matter of course. Makes for a real quick reload if you know it's coming.

Like stated above, this isn't uncommon for the BERSA. My .380 doesn't load like that, but many others do. Rest easy and enjoy.

Thank you for the replies. I feel a lot better about it. It's my daily carry and I have an extra Mage with me all the time, so I will practice reloading and learn to expect it. Thanks guys.

It's either by design, or a worn slide catch.

I've only had one gun do this, one of the Makarovs I've had in the past. A new slide stop made the problem go away.

Did you notice if it did this when the gun was new?

I honestly didn't pay attention to it when I bought it. The slide seems and catch seem in good shape. Not much wear as far as I can see. If I filed a couple thousandths off the slide where the slide catch is, would that do anything detrimental to the gun? I don't think so, but I'm newer to working with handguns. Rifles and Gatling guns (m61a1 on the f16 &f15) are more of my comfort zone.
