Possible Belgium Colt

As a new boy to this forum I would like to know if any one can identify this pistol that has been in my possession for many years. I believe it to be a Belgium copy of a Pocket Navy Colt c1850s. There are no markings on the gun apart from matching serial numbers. 104637, it is a .36 cal. The action is working but very slack with age, it has nice aged bone handles, they may not be the originals but are of the period. It has a 5in barrel and I have enclosed some pictures which may be of help. There are no proof marks on the gun which could indicate it may be of American origin ! I would be grateful for any comments you may have.
Thanks Merv.

Without any markings, your guess is as good as anyone else's, new here or not. From the Belgian guns I've seen, most were marked with proof marks at least.

The fit of the gun is somewhat casual in places, as is the fit of the grips. Could be someone pilfered enought parts from a gunmaker to build his own.

Hi Bob Thanks for your words and interest. As I understand American made guns do not have any proof marks. That is why I thought it may have been a US made item but as you say we may never know..

Merv,

Many years ago, a friend of mine was given a plastic bag full of parts, enough to make three complete revolvers, copies of the Colt 1849 Pocket Model plus a few more parts. These parts were found in Germany, had never been finished nor fitted, and bore no markings. Grips furnished were some type of polymer, simulated ivory.

There was some cloak-and-dagger mission that allowed them to be brought back into the US without question. Never knew the source, nor the disposition of the parts.
