Lets begin again.

As it seems some people are overly sensitive to any term that refers to the illegal nature of these people and their actions, and since not all "wetbacks" are from Mexico, but Cuba and elsewhere also, we will call them what they are: The future of the Democratic Party.

Please DO NOT refer to them as drug-runners, terrorists, gangsters, wetbacks, leaches, beaners, spics or the like. They are to be referred to with the badge of honor that they deserve: future Democrats.

Accordeing to the article, Sheriff, Joe Arpaio, his sworn deputies, and trained volunteers (reservists?) will begin arresting Future Democrats.

This will allow the FDs to be processed, fingerprinted, photographed and then given an official welcome by the Dems with much fanfare. As the future of the party, they will be patronized and told to continue to fight against the evil that is the law. Congresswoman McKinney will be guest speaker and counsel them on how to fight da man and beat the crap out of LEOs who try to stop them.

Seriously, can somebody tell me why they should not be arrested as any other criminal would be?

Sorry, the old line about just wanting a better life does not wash. They are thumbing their nose at our governement, our laws, our society and then demanding that we support their criminal enterprises all while hating and mocking middle America.

I know many Legal immigrants who went through the paperwork, took the tests and are now legal, taxpaying citizens. I have not met one who has jumped through the hoops and who thinks that we ought to just make every squatter from the third world a US citizen. They resent it very much, as do I.

I think we need Joe to run for Governor or maybe President of the US. A real down to earth crime fighter who does not coddle criminals (future Democrats).

I support a Bracero program for those wanting to work. However blanket amnesty is not the solution.

1. I agree with Wildalaska that the INS needs some reforming.

2. The INS should be allowed some more funds to set up a database for workers from Mexico. They should be able to go by a US Embassy, or Internet, or by mail and register. American Employers should be able to access this database also. If the employer sees some people he wants to hire he should be able to select them off the database and submit it to INS. INS then notifies the worker who submits identification documents to the INS. When the worker arrives in the US he should be issued a worker ID card.

The employer files a report by Internet or phone that the worker is still employed on a regular basis. After 36 months on a worker program he will become eligible for citizenship.

3. If you have been here illegally the new bill should establish an amnesty period for registration and filing paperwork, probably about 24 months no question asked. You would have to register and have a background check run for criminal activity. If you employer has been paying you then he has 6 months to get right no questions asked. At the end of the 24 months if nothing comes back you get your citizenship papers....

4. If you are willing to commit to duty in the US Armed Forces you get citizenship after completing Basic and AIT and after 6 months on your new duty assignment. If you are assigned to combat duty then lets cut it to 3 months of combat duty.

The INS has to process all paperwork within 5 business days, the criminal background check may take a little longer. Within 30 days max by law the person should be able to get his stuff processed. However, if any criminal felony activity comes back at any time an administrative hearing should be held.

if we did that then we would fare better than the blanket amnesty.

And pay your taxes, beginning on day 1. Any any back taxes you may owe that there are records to support.

it would be easier just to start from day 1.......

The money it costs to recover the back taxes might end up costing the taxpayers more than the amount recovered.... dont spend $1.00 trying to recover 10 cents.

The purpose is to encourage people to get signed up not to punish them,more will do so if you make it easy and painless.

Wanna call me a WOP to my face? I'm far more easily found than the Mex and Cuban "wetbacks" you reference. (BTW, WOP stands for "With Out Papers".)
