Ported Beretta Barrel

I've decided I can't live without a ported barrel for my Beretta 92 family. So far, Federal Arms has been the choice for most, but I can't find them online. Can someone recommend a dealer for Federal Arms Barrels?

Are any other brands worth checking out?

I would also love to hear some experiences with aftermarket ported barrels...

I think Bar-Sto is supposed to be the best aftermarket barrel-maker. http://www.shooternet.com/barsto/ http://www.jarvis-custom.com/ http://www.kkmprecision.com/ http://www.magnaport.com/

I wouldn't recommend porting a full-sized 9mm. You're gonna need as much velocity as possible, and the recoil isn't much by nature. Magna-Port could do a good job if you NEED it done.

I got mine at Brownell's for $69. Best gunsmith company, anywhere. Call them at 515 623 4000. That price is for gunsmiths, student gunsmiths, business owners, etc. If you are one of the above, they will also send you massive catalog of every gunsmith product you can ever imagine.

I agree with Ben in everything that he said. After installing the barrel, the gun will look really cool, and won't muzzle flip AT ALL. This barrel drops in, but won't be any more accurate than the Beretta stock barrel. The Bar-sto barrel (I think also available through Brownells for about $135) is much more accurate, but requires some effort in fitting.

You can also screw in a compensator to the stock Barrel. Last December, I bought twenty of them from some guy who thought the
world was going to end. If interested, I can sell you a couple for cheap. Let me know off the list if you are interested.

I should have stated that the ported barrel is to limit muzzle flip for bowling pin shooting, not for defense or to limit recoil. Thanks for all the tips so far.
