I just returned from my first trip to the range with a new ported 629 which was a replacement for one traded three years ago.
The gun fired great, with mixed reloads of 180, 210 and 240 grain bullets, from mild .44 Specials to thumper .44 mags, all holding in the same 2" or so group off-hand at 30' . Double action is great.
This is my second S&W with the frame mounted firing pin, and both are fine.
