poor boys trigger job

I just read an article on gunblast descibing how to reduce the trigger pull on my sbh. They said to release one of the arms of the trigger spring and just let it hang there. My gun is brand new and the trigger is a little stiff, but I can't help but be skeptical. Is this safe? http://www.gunblast.com/Poorboy.htm

I don't know enough about 'smithing to be able to offer an opinion, but I would be very interested in what the experts have to say about this.

Yes it is safe. It's just the trigger return spring and removing one of the leggs just lessens the power of the spring giving a easier to pull trigger. It is better to have an action job with polishing and adjustments, but for a poor man that trick does somewhat work.

It works well. Just be sure you're on target before you touch the trigger the first few times after doing it. My SBH trigger is VERY light now. (It's a .44 used only for hunting/targets.)

Have done it to my three Rugers and it WORKS but if you have put in lighter springs it might not work.Me and most of the guys I shoot with have done this :) I have fired hundreds of rounds with no problem.
