Pondering new rifle

I am looking to add another hunting rifle. Sako 85 Bavarian is at the top of my list right now (in either 270 win or 30-06, haven't decided yet). I am also thinking about a CZ 550, but I've never actually put my hands on one. I know that I do not want another Remington. I don't want to spend much more than the Sako, so no custom rifles right now. I definitely would like is some nice furniture. No synthetic. I've thought about Weatherby also, but for some unknown reason I've never been a big Weatherby fan.

Anyone have any other suggestions?

In that price range for a Sako 85 Bavarian you might be able to find a Kimber or a Cooper rifle with gorgeous wood.

Heck, even a top end Ruger77MkII will serve as a good hunting rifle.

Nothing wrong with Sako or CZ though.

Savage, ruger, Winchester super grade, the weatgerby would serve you well though. They are a great gun. As of late some of the Brownings we are getting seem to have nice wood on them.

I have a CZ 500 in .30-06 with the HS precision Kevlar stock.
I would highly recommend the CZ 550.
It has a set trigger that came with a very nice 1 lb 6 oz pull. The factory trigger is just under 3 1/2 lbs.
I have two CZ rifles (the other a CZ 527 in .223) with the Kevlar HS Precision Kevlar stocks and both are very accurate.

My CZ 550 was a good shooter under 1 MOA shooter out of the box with factory ammo in 150 and 168 grain bullets and after some testing with different ammos, I found that it loves 175 - 180 grain bullet loads best.

Best load is currently IMR 4350 with a 175 grain Sierra Match King that averages an astonishing 0.357 with a best group of 0.162 at 100 yards.

It shoots a number of hunting bullet loads in the range of 0.5 to 0.6 inches.

The CZ 550 would be a good choice.

If you want a good looking wood stock and performance to match I like the Kimber classic select 84L. Mine shoots really well and weighs just about nothing. Great hunting rifle.

My thaught depends on what you are using it for! I like the Savage Semi-Auto in 300 Win Mag in synthetic, but for smaller game like deer or Pig theres a couple of Brownings that are nice in 30/06 or 308

Howa (not sure about wood stocks with Howa)...

On the used market you should be able to find S&W's and Weatherby's with real nice wood and Howa actions. I have one of each and love them both.
