Poll USAtoday & Another Cool Link

Well, when I looked there had been 2481 responses to the question. 80.2 % said yes and 19.7 % said no. Great right? Wrong!
We all "self selected" ourselves to offer our oppinion. This is not "scientific" for it to be a scientific poll the group of respondants must be selected. This group must be weighted to reflect the oppinion of the population at large. What we have done is participate in an online reader survey which equates to 0%.
It's just a feel good thing that USA Today uses to comfort us subjects.
I was about to get on a roll but I'll stop!
Best regards and good shooting,
Hank

I found this an interesting tid-bit:
quote:
Why does the death penalty survive in the U.S. when most big democracies of the world have abolished it? Does it help deter crime? What about possible mistakes that may claim the lives of innocents? [/quote]

Are there any other democracies (although, technically, we are not one) on this planet?

JHS,

I have no problem with the death penalty. I believe it should be used more often, and as you stated, much sooner after conviction.

The question was: Do you know of any DEMOCRACIES in the world as they spoke about in the quote in my last post?
