Police Shoot 8th Grader at School in Texas

A 13 year old was old enough to shoot a Marine GySGT / reserve police officer I knew, back around 1990. That a 15 year old was shot is tragic, but that doesn't mean it was the wrong call by the officers.

This time of year, 14 would not be uncommon for 8th grade. A 15 year old may have only been held back a year at some point.

I got my first gun, a Rem 521 .22, when I was 10. I was just a capable of killing someone as now. We never considered killing someone, but just to hunt and keep it in the house in case we needed it.

There is a different mindset now, and a 14 year old with a gun can kill you just as dead as a 21 year old. I don't think the officers should hesitate to shoot a kid of any age who has a gun and is threatening to shoot.

I could care less about some stupid kid who brings a gun to school and expects the outcome to be in his favor. Those kind of students know xx could xxx in a hurry and it could be ugly. I'm more concerned about the officer(s) state afterwards. No one wants to shoot and kill anyone, especially a juvenile; and in a school setting. Good luck to the school administrators trying to keep that a "safe school" in the future. Nothing ever comes out good when it involves kids and guns in schools. America sure is changing.
