Point of Impact

Read that the center of your pattern on basic upgland game shotguns hits 12-18 inches above the front sight 40 yards . What do you think about this? Do you think if you aim the BB on the front sight the majority of the shot will pattern on the target 18 inches above the center?

Do turkey designated shotgun shoot more like a rifle and the center of the shot would not be 18 inches abouve the front bead sight?

No one could tell you wiyj absolute certainly where YOUR gun will pattern. This is something you will have to do with your gun. That said, "most" field guns shoot flat whch means you should hit a target at 40 yards with 50% above and 50% below point of aim. Most Trap guns shoot anywhere from 60/40 to much higher patterns.

Every shotgun is designed to hit the paper at point "X" from a distance of "Y".

Then during the actual manufacturing processes, things are changed. Every part of the shotgun has certain tolerances of + or - "Z" amount. It is these little changes that will make each shotgun shoot differently than the one that was originally designed and spec'd.

Very, very few shotguns are fired at the factory for point of impact, they are simply shot to test fire for function...many times into a barrel at point blank range.

Some production guns shoot high, some low, left and right...and these are all from the same model line during the same production day.

Please pattern each and every shotgun you own. If you don't like the results, complain to the factory. Most will make needed changes under their warranty program.
