OK guys and gals I'm in the market for a new pistol. Its going to be left at home not going to be carried nor target shooting. So that being said which of these is the better one
-Smith and Wesson m&p shield
-Smith and Wesson SD9VE
-Ruger LC9s
-Ruger SR9C
-Sig P250
-Glock 22

Framing it and hanging it on the wall?

I have a G22 and G19 and they are great. My wife has 9mm Shield and it's great. I have handled the 45acp S&W M&P's and they felt great in the hand, haven't shot one but it would be strongly considered if I was getting another 45

Any reason why you're only considering those guns? Several of those are more suited to concealed carry than home defense.

I'll give the standard answer to this very common question.
They're all "good" guns. So you need to try before you buy if at all possible. Check to see if there is a range you can go to that rents guns. These are all pretty common, and they likely have several of them to try.

Now, for a more detailed response, we need a little more information.
What is your experience with guns, and handguns in particular?

Do you have other guns that you would use for "target" practice? A very important part of owning a gun that it appears you want for self defense.

Do you have a way to securely store the weapon?

I'm law enforcement so I handle quite a bit on guns more in particular the glock 23..but I'm looking for on mainly for wife and that's why it would stay at home

So you keep your wife bare foot and pregnant so she will be at home to cook and sew fer you and fetch fire wood and such and she just needs sumthin in the corner incase the Hatfields come a calling.....

Yep.... really it has to fit her and her hand and how SHE wants to use it and carry it and you just have to pull out your wallet.......

My wife has the Shield 9mm and likes it. She also has a pair of Sig Mosquitos in 22lr. She held a few of the small 9's and liked the feel of the S&W. I have a small 380 and I know she would have hated that route. 9mm was a good move for her. It took a shortage of 22 ammo for her to decide she should move up to a 9mm for "Her" gun. I'm glad she did. She has always kept my Kahr PM9 close by when I'm not home, but she just didn't care to shoot anything but her little 22's. She can shoot anything in the house, but she doesn't consider them fun

For a Wife gun, it's a very good idea to have them handle them and see what fits. My wife hates the feel of some of them out there

but I'm looking for on mainly for wife and that's why it would stay at home

In that case, get her to a gun shop so she can handle a bunch of guns, and then get her to a range and let her rent a bunch of guns. She needs to decide which gun suits her best.

In that case, all are good choices, but the best choice is the one she wants!:D
Take her gun shopping with you, and maybe a little family range time too.:D

CZ p-09....sorry it doesn't appear to be on your list.

If it's not for shooting ever, I'd go with a new 40th anniversary CZ 75 or a 1911 to polish and look at.

Of that group, Glock 22 would be hard to beat.

If I may, XD-9 or XD40 might be a better choice. Their trigger is better.

I get the HD gun idea, but you should also put lots of rounds down it to develop muscle memory to be fluid with it.
