My daily routine has me constantly removing my j-frame 442 from my front pocket and locking it down. I regularly visit no gun zones. I leave my nylon holster in my pocket and it collapses making it difficult to re-holster.
Try Safariland's pocket holster. It consists of a hard, slick, inner shell covered with a rough-out leather exterior. It holds my Ruger LCR (or J-frame Smith) nicely. The holster stays in the pocket when the weapon is removed and keeps its shape for ease of reholstering.
The holster does a good job of sticking in my pocket so it is a bit of a pain to remove it when I lock my gun down. Also, in some pants it is not easy to put it back in my pocket.
I pocket carry near daily. I also am in and out of no-gun zones. I remove holster and all.
2 reasons:
1. Leaves something to protect the gun and cover the trigger when it's out of my pocket. Protects finish and keeps trigger covered.
2. I don't want to go sticking a gun with an uncovered trigger back in my pocket. To me that seems like a potential ND waiting to happen. Get the trigger hung and yikes. Slim chance if you keep your pockets clear of other stuff, but still...........
I use pocket holsters by www.rkbaholsters.com. They are stiff enough that you could re-holster, but they are also easy enough to get out if you want to remove it all.
I'm a Mika fan, have my S&W 637 in one ... I also carry a PM9, in a Nemesis, and while it's not as easy to reholster as the Mika, it can be done with a bit of practice ...
