pocket carry MK40 Kahr

Greetings;
As many fo you know i recently aqquired an Mk40 for backup to my K40 and as a primary weapon when a belt holster might appropriate.
Well i am breaking in a new Kramer horsehide pocket holster for the Mk40 and it is great.
Wet molding and boning are fantastic. the top side of the holster is a mirror image of the gun. The back side (worn away from the body) is perfectly flat and has a thick section of hard plastic or polymer sewn to it. this helps to break up the outline of the gun and protect it when worn in the back pocket when you sit on it. the holster has several protruding tabs of leather that help it remain in the pocket during the draw.
The Mk40 is a little heavy/large for front pocket carry, IMHO, but it reaches the "I forgot it was there!" stage real fast in the back pocket. In that posistion the pistol/holster combo is very comfortable. It is really not any worse than a standard wallet in the same pocket. As a matter of fact my wallet is more uncomfortable to sit on for any period of time. Draw from the pocket holster is fast and grip from the draw is easy with two fingers (three with mag extender).
I can see that in the future i will be reaching in the lock box for the MK40 in its Kramer horsehide pocket holster and my extra K40 mag in its Kramer horsehide pocket sleeve and hitting the road in comfort and well armed.

SEVENTY-EIGHT DOLLARS FOR A POCKET HOLSTER, That thing must be made of HOLY COW!!

ROS, what size pants do you wear? I'm a pretty big guy but the back pockets on my jeans do not seem to be deep enough. If you were standing behind me at the copier you would be able to see the top of my MK.

not holy cow..horse hide!!

i guess you get what you pay for. i have tried other pocket holsters but none of the others come close to Kramer's quaility and design. Don Hume makes a nice pocket holster for the MK9 but claims it won't fit the MK40. price is almost 1/2 of Kramer's.. who knows? plus it is a holster after all. that is the price range for most quaility holsters these days.
as far as covering the top of the gun, on some of my jeans it will show the extreme top of the gun, barely. nothing an overlapping Polo or T-shirt would not cover. in most of my other pants the top of the gun is covered. if the weight/bulk does not bother you the front pocket is the best carry spot for a pocket holster. however, i have logged many a mile with a S&W 442 in a Kramer pocket holster in my left back pocket and the gun's grip actually stuck out of the pocket. it concealed well with a simple T-shirt or polo shirt. far better thn you can conceal a belt or IWB holster under a similar garment.
each to his/her own
