Pocket carry a 686P

Does anyone happen to pocket carry a 686 snubbie, specifically the 686P version or comparable revolver? I understand there is an issue of the hammer snagging in the pocket but, and forgive me if this is idea is waaaaay off but, should you feel threatened, could you not simply put your hand in your pocket, one finger on the hammer (to hopefully help prevent snagging) with the others on the grip ready to draw? I will try this with my grandfather's 686 snubbie sometime and see how it works out. I don't have a problem carrying a DA only revolver, and I suppose I could carry it IWB, but I prefer practicing in SA some. And those extra two shots make me feel that much better. I hope this makes sense...

The issue will be more one of weight than size. A two-pound brick in one's pocket can make one's clothes hang a bit funny.

"Is that a 686 in your pocket, or are you shoplifting bowling balls?" ;)

Depending on your body shape, you might get away with making a holster that keeps the grips outside the pocket. Never tried it myself, but have heard of several people that have done so successfully. Would obviously need a long shirt to cover.

Edited to add: If I were to pocket carry, I think I would rather have a gun that could be completely concealed within a pocket, so that I could have my hands on the grips w/o giving away the fact I have a gun. Otherwise, I'd probably rather go to a different mode of carry. I prefer IWB.

One would be rather lopsided with a 686 snub in one big pocket. I'd think another 686 snob would have to be added to an opposing big pocket just to keep the carrier feeling symmetrical. Reinforcing the pockets with some of that heavy waxed thread the holstermakers use would also be a good idea.

Pocket carry a 686??? Even if it is a snub, them's got to be some kind of pockets! Maybe you could get away with it in a parka pocket, or maybe a heavy trenchcoat pocket, but otherwise it is just too big and heavy, IMHO. Not saying it can't be done, but I wouldn't even attempt it.
