plugged to three?

My Ithaca 37 .12 gauge is plugged to hold only three rounds, I assume, since that's all I can get in it. I know that's required for hunting, and I have no problem with that. (It's brought down many a duck for me.) But if I'm not going to be hunting for a while and want to keep it loaded up for home defense, how do I "unplug" it? I know how to do it with Remington, but not an Ithaca.
 
It's been 30 years since I owned one; but I think you just unscrew the end cap on the magazine and pull out the spring with the plug inserted. Then pull out the plug and put the magazine back together.

1) Unload the gun.
2) Pull the slide halfway back.
3) Screw the magazine end cap all the way down on the magazine.
4) Twist the barrel 90 degrees counter-clockwise and remove from receiver.
5) Unscrew the end cap taking care to restrain it when it comes off under mild spring pressure.
6) At this point, the spring, follower, and plug are free to slide out the front of the magazine.
7) Assemble in reverse order.
